SUPPORT YOUR PARENT

SUPPORT YOUR PARENT

Tips for Supporting Your Parent’s Transition to Senior Living

As our parents age, they may consider moving to a senior living community, which can be a challenging decision for both the parent and adult child. True Connection Communities understands the importance of a smooth transition and offers tips to help navigate the process with ease. Firstly, it’s essential to understand the unique needs and preferences of the senior, including the level of care they require, the activities they enjoy, and any medical conditions they may have. Touring senior living communities together can also help alleviate anxiety and build trust in the decision-making process. Addressing emotional concerns, such as feelings of loss or fear of the unknown, is also important. Encourage the senior to express their feelings and validate their concerns. It’s also vital to plan for the move, taking into account the senior’s needs and preferences, such as downsizing their belongings, hiring a moving company, and setting up their new living space. Staying involved in the senior’s life after the move, with regular visits and phone calls, is also crucial. At True Connection Communities, they offer a range of emotional support services and resources to help with the moving process, including downsizing assistance and move-in coordination.
